Arbitration
|
- MAT has designed a unique approach to arbitration, using a single
arbitrator who consults periodically with a consulting arbitrator to ensure that
all of the issues are recognized and dealt with. MAT has created the MAT Rules,
which provide the framework for speedily, economically, and justly resolving disputes.
- The MAT Arbitration Rules provide for the arbitration award to
contain findings of fact and conclusions of law dealing with all of the factual
and legal issues presented in the arbitration.
- Recognizing that in some cases the parties and their counsel only
want a single arbitrator and/or an award that simply designates the prevailing party
and the relief granted, the MAT Arbitration Rules contain opt-out provisions to
accomplish these goals.
- The MAT principals can also serve on an arbitration panel, if the
agreement to arbitrate contemplates a panel of arbitrators.
- The MAT Arbitration Rules provide for a limited right of appeal
with a different consulting arbitrator (another set of eyes looking at the award).

Mediation
|
- The principals of MAT have almost 80 years of combined experience
in the practice of law, which includes a wide variety of commercial cases, both
transactional and litigated or arbitrated matters. This real world experience permits
them to understand complex transactional matters and to be proactive in seeking
solutions in mediations.

Special Masters
|
- The MAT principals can act as special masters in matters.

Discovery Masters
|
- Based on their years of experience in dealing with discovery disputes
in both state and federal courts, the MAT principals are well-suited to act as discovery
masters.

Location of Mediations and Arbitrations
|
- The MAT offices are ideally suited for mediations and arbitrations,
with one large, two medium, and four small conference rooms available. Hotels and
restaurants are nearby.
- The MAT principals will also provide mediation and arbitration
services at other locations selected by the parties.
